I have often commissioned the services of Focalpoint Phorography and Zeldie Van Rensburg in particular and am delighted to write this letter of recommendation.
Zeldie’s combined passion for the outdoors and photography has made her an unquestionable choice when the need arises for a freelance photographer in the greater Gauteng area and beyond. I have experienced Zeldie as a consummate professional for whom no assignment is too big or too small. Focalpoint has provided a range of photographs to be used in feature articles related to caravanning and camping destinations, to technical step by step DIY articles and, product reviews and events.
All pictures were provided punctually and in print ready format. I have come to admire Zeldie’s dogged determination to deliver her best possible work to satisfy her clients’ needs. On occasion she has delivered more images than required, simply to enable a larger editorial choice and has always been willing to assist, even on short notice.
Zeldie Van Rensburg and Focalpoint Phorography can be applauded and recommended without hesitation.
Best Regards

Walking into my study always puts a smile on my face. It's not like any other room in my house. It's cold and always cluttered, and I hate clutter, with weeks of filing and studying waiting for my attention. Then why does it make me smile?
As soon as I walk in and see the collection of photos that run as a screensaver on my laptop I can't help but smile. It's the one of my husband red in the face laughing at Zeldie's jokes that time we modeled for her when she was doing a class on studio lighting. He looks so happy and I always forget why I am mad at him when I see it.
The slide ticks over and I'm transported to the happiest day of my wedding! Suddenly the room is not so cold anymore and I feel like the sun does shine in here, even with the curtains shut tight. The next one is a wedding photo of my Dad giving me away in the Church. Funny to think just a year earlier we were not even talking! He looks so happy and behind him in the crowd I see my sister smiling away. How Zeldie put up with us all on that day is a wonder!
My mother-in-law speaks so little English and my brother-in-law had to be forced into the studio for the pre-wedding family photos. I can still remember thinking I won't have a single photo with him in, and yet Zeldie got me over 20!! Her way with difficult camera-shy people is as good as her eye for composition!!
She even caught me laughing at my favorite uncle's stories at the reception, which is still one of the best photos I have of us together. You can see in it how we are all having a great time. My goddaughter looks like a little angel in her photo, she is 3 now and what a hand full! The photo of her that is on the screen reminds me of just how fast she is growing up and I want to call and book a play date with her and her mom. She was only 3 months old at the wedding. What a little angel.
A new slide comes up and it's a couple of months later. The photo is of my husband holding my belly. I smile wider as I remember the day, and all the baby weight I gained.
Zeldie made my very proud, pregnant face look soft and lovely in my pregnancy portfolio. I took the eating for two a bit too far and man was I big! Yet when I look at the photos of the baby bump with booties on I can't help wanting to hug my son! It never accrued to me at the time how fast you forget the little things that at during your pregnancy felt so significant that you thought you would never be able to forget even if you tried.
I feel lucky to be reminded by my photo as the slide changes again and moves on to the next time I saw Zeldie. About a month after my son was born we did a family portrait and a baby portfolio all in one. My son was so tiny! The little hands and feet! Hard to think he was ever so small! What a great day we had with Zeldie that day. My husband and I were still so new to the life of parenthood and we had a great time taking photos and getting advice. It was also good to get out of the house and have an extra set of hands with us if baby started to cry, especially when it was someone who had more experience with babies than we did.
My Mother-in-law loved the photos! Baby was just so perfect. Zeldie was great with him and made me feel so lucky and so proud to be the mother of such a beautiful baby.
Family portrait time again! Oh what a day, my baby girl was 5 months and we needed an updated family photo. For Valentines Day my husband suggested we go do a family portfolio! Funny enough he was the one who wanted to go to Zeldie yet again. When I asked him why he likes her he said it does not feel so stiff and formal being under the studio light when it's Zeldie behind the camera. I think he never forgot the first time with all the jokes and laughing and how red he blushed or was it me who was blushing??
So on Valentines Day we pack up both the kids and went to Zeldie. My son now 2 was in such a bad mood I was convinced there would not be a single decent photo of all 4 of us.
And what a mess my son made! He grabbed everything he was not supposed to, would not sit still and made Zeldie's poor dog so nervous he was shaking. Toddlers! Some how Zeldie managed to still look like it was no problem and all is OK! And to my great delight when I got the photos from Zeldie there were so many great shots I had a hard time deciding which one to add to my screen saver!!
In the end I had to add ten new photos to my little slide show of our family history. After I added the new photos I looked it over once and realized every photo on there was taken by Zeldie! In the last 5 years of my life every really big event was shared by this amazing woman who went from a stranger to an employer to a friend and I can't wait for the next big event to include her once again. She is great fun to work with!
The kids respond to her so well and even my husband can't stop singing her praises! I would just like to take a second to say thank you Zeldie. You have captured my memories with a warm smile and using all your great talent. Thank you for your time and patience, thank you for dealing with my naughty toddler with such grace. I hope to have you there for many more big days and family portfolios as the kids get older.

I contacted Focalpoint Studios from the United States for a family photo shoot, as my children and I were traveling to South Africa for a few weeks to attend my daughter's wedding. We set up a shoot for a Tuesday, when I found out on the Friday before that my son-in-law could not make it, I phoned and was told she would see what she could do and contact me. I was a bit apprehensive because we were running out of time, but thankfully she sent me an e-mail on Sunday with a new date for the Thursday instead. Thursday came and unexpectedly, we had to go to a lawyer for final preparations for their wedding on Saturday, so I sent the five kids and family dog over and the other four of us only arrived a half hour late. Mrs. Van Rensburg started the shoot with them and finished when the rest of us arrived. What a lovely person and I really appreciate that she was able to accommodate us and was so willing to help us to have a wonderful photo shoot, when everything seemed to be working against us actually getting there.
I want to thank you so much, I know we could not have been the easiest group, considering the hold ups and amount of people (plus dog), but I am so happy that you were able to help us on such short notice. I am so glad that God led me to your website, as I had a wonderful experience with you and can't wait to see the pics.
Kind regards,
Joyce
